Welcome to From Dust
Meet the Founder
My name is Alisha Banks, Founder of From Dust. This is the unfolding of a story that has been waiting to be told for over ten years—a story still being written as we walk out our testimonies for God and as a witness to others. Over the last several years, I have had two profound honors: becoming a mother and stepping into the holistic health field, graduating from Dr. Cabral’s Integrative Health Institute and receiving my Board Certification as a Holistic Health Practitioner.
But my story is not defined by academic titles. Rather, it is a collection of transformative moments that have shaped me from the inside out. Now, I feel it is time to begin writing it down—to embrace the season God has planted me in and to step boldly into my mission of spreading hope through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
From a young age, I remember moments where I believe Satan planted seeds of fear in my soul concerning health. These are stories I have shared in bits and pieces over the years, but now, I want to tell them fully—not to dwell on past trauma, but to testify to God’s faithfulness in healing and restoring even the deepest wounds. In reflecting on my journey, I’ve found that humor has been part of my healing. Scripture reminds us that laughter is connected to strength and joy:
“He will once again fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.” — Job 8:21
The intention behind this blog is to extend to myself the same grace I so often encourage in others—my loved ones, my clients, and my children. As a creative soul and businesswoman in the modern age, I have been tempted to move at a pace that is not always aligned with the Spirit. My hope is that these writings will inspire you to pause, reflect, and seek the Lord in your own journey. Your time, energy, and resources are valuable. God cares deeply about your mind and has a special mission for you to fulfill. It is our honor to walk alongside you as we help you heal and discover His call upon your life together.
Motherhood and Ministry
I reflect often about my mission at From Dust, and at its core, it has always been motherhood. My journey into holistic health didn’t begin with business—it began with a longing to create a healthy, safe environment for my future children to grow. But if I’m honest, I carried a lot of fear around conception. Would my body be prepared? Would I pass down health struggles I hadn’t yet overcome?
Much of this fear was rooted in the lack of education and informed choices I had as a young girl and teen. I didn’t know how my body worked. I wasn’t taught how to care for it properly, how to nourish it, or how to listen to it. Like so many women, I was placed on birth control without true understanding, handed quick fixes instead of real solutions, and led to believe that my health was something to be managed, not stewarded.
Now, as a mother raising daughters, I carry a deep responsibility to do better for them. To teach them what I wish I had known. To create a home where their bodies are honored, their minds are strong, and their spirits are deeply rooted in truth.
At the same time, I hold a big vision to serve beyond my home—to equip women with the knowledge, confidence, and faith to reclaim their health and lead their families well. And yet, in the tension of this calling, I’ve come to realize something important:
The work I do in my home is not separate from the work I do in the world. It is the foundation.
The meals prepared, the prayers spoken, the lessons taught, the way I show up—this is where legacy begins. Whether my work extends into coaching, mentorship, or advocacy, my first ministry is here— in the home.
Because at the end of the day, what good is knowledge if it doesn’t serve the ones God has entrusted to us?
The Truth About Sickness
Many women of faith believe sickness is their thorn to bear, but I have come to a different understanding. God did not create sickness—nor is it part of His design. Disease entered the world through the fall of man, and Satan delights in using it to steal, kill, and destroy. But as believers, we have a choice: to accept sickness as our portion or to claim the healing and restoration available to us through Christ.
Psalm 91 reminds us of God’s promise:
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand].”
Our safety, security, and healing come from abiding in His presence. This blog is an invitation—to step into the fullness of His promises, to align our lives with His truth, and to reject the lies that keep us bound. I pray that as you read these words, you will be encouraged to seek His wisdom, His healing, and His purpose for your life.
There is healing in His presence. There is restoration in His name. And as we pursue health—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—we must do so with the unwavering belief that God desires wholeness for us.
This blog is an offering, a space to wrestle with truth, to ask hard questions, and to celebrate the healing power of Christ. I pray that as you read these words, you are reminded that you are not alone. Your journey matters. Your healing matters. And the God who created you is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you.
Breaking Free From Idols
Not too long ago, I found myself believing another lie from the enemy—the lie that I had nothing of worth to say. “Who am I,” I thought, “to be sharing, educating, and leading in this space?” Even with over a decade of biblical and holistic studies, I wrestled with doubt.
At the root of this fear was something deeper: I did not want to offend those who did not share my beliefs. I underestimated the power of the Spirit flowing through me, still attempting to lean on my own understanding—contradicting the very truth and instruction found in God’s Word. This, I now see, is an area of continual repentance. And yet, in His mercy, our Lord extends grace daily.
We are in a time where God is calling His daughters into deeper intimacy—into a greater understanding and application of our spiritual gifts. Our obedience to this call brings abundant blessings—one of the greatest being peace.
For we know that true comfort does not lie in the riches of this world, but in the moments where we share the light of Jesus, experience His power flowing through us, and walk confidently in the authority He has given us. We are called to raise up the next generation of Kingdom image-bearers. This is the hope for the future. This is the path to the healing of our land.
But before we can fully step into this calling, we must come to a place of repentance—letting go of the false idols we have worshiped. For too long, we have placed our faith in worldly systems, believing our healing comes from anything or anyone other than Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. It is time to reenter the covenant, to take hold of His mighty power, and allow it to flow through us—for our healing, for our families, and for the nations He is calling us to. To God be the glory as we praise our risen King Jesus, forever and ever. Amen.
We look forward to serving you,
